About Us

Hey Everyone! Welcome to Southern Crust and Crumble!

I’m Jessica—the baker behind the bread. I started this whole thing to support my cookie habit (kidding… kinda). Truthfully, baking has always been my dream. Back in middle school, I begged my mom to let me go to a culinary trade school instead of regular high school. I wanted to open a bakery—well, originally a bakery/bookstore/coffee shop… with cats. Remove the book store, and coffee shop and the cats and voi La, Southern Crust and Crumble. (Cue angelic choir)

While this bakery may be Southern, I’m not. I was born in Downeast Maine, in a tiny fishing town much like McClellanville—but up there, we leaned more toward lobster, crab, and clams. Summers were spent digging for clams, fishing, picking berries, and baking with my Nana. Later, in Connecticut and through my own travels, I discovered a whole world of flavors that shaped the way I bake today.

I moved to the Lowcountry in 2019 (right before the world turned upside down), but my husband is a third-generation native. He’s introduced me to so many incredible Southern foods and has been my biggest supporter in this baking adventure. And wouldn’t you know it—the sugar addict married the diabetic? That twist of fate is actually what pushed me to finally start selling.

God blessed me with this gift and the desire to feed people, so thank you for letting me share it with you. I hope every bite brings you a little joy, a little comfort, and maybe even a little reminder of His goodness.
